CHICAGO HEIGHTS | At Monday night’s regular board meeting, the school board approved the hiring of Ron Ashlaw as boys basketball coach for the Bloom Township D206 program.
School Superintendent Dr. Lennell Navarre confirmed the hiring Tuesday afternoon.
“We are very excited to bring Ron Ashlaw on board as our basketball coach,” Navarre said.
At Waukegan, Ashlaw led a talented group of players to the Class 4A state title game in 2009 and a third-place finish in 2010. The Bulldogs were 53-10 in those two seasons, 109-60 in Ashlaw's six years.
Ashlaw takes over for Jasper Williams, the Blazing Trojans coach for the past 10 years. Williams led Bloom to four 20-win seasons, including a fourth-place finish in Class 4A in 2012. The Blazing Trojans were 26-4 this past season, losing to Marian Catholic in the sectional final.
Ashlaw could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.
