Eric Schreiber likes challenges. He's got a new one now.
On Monday, the former Hammond football coach was named football coach at Clark, which has lost 24 of its last 30 games and hasn't had a winning season since 2010.
"Just his experience," said Clark athletic director Chris Moore of Schreiber's appeal. "His resume pretty much spoke for itself. He takes it as a challenge to rebuild the program.
"There's a few athletes walking the halls, but not as many as before."
Schreiber, a 1992 Griffith grad, wants to change that.
"They have a nice core of seniors coming back, 12 or 13, but the other classes are low," he said. "They haven't had a lot of success and that may be why. Hopefully, we can establish a middle school program and something even lower than that, maybe a youth program.
"I want to bring some enthusiasm and create some excitement, hopefully soon. I'm an impatient guy."
There will be a parent meeting at the high school tonight at 6. Prospective players are invited.
