ST.JOHN | Lake Central's gym doesn't glow as brightly as in past seasons, its star power diminished by the graduation of Glenn Robinson III.
Don't fire up the generator yet. The lights are still on for The Times' No. 4 Indians. They closed out Friday night's near-sellout with Crown Point on a 17-4 run in rolling to a 65-44 Duneland Athletic Conference win.
"We've got a long way to go," Crown Point coach Clint Swan said after his Bulldogs turned the ball over 26 times. "We've got guys who are playing hard. But you've got to tip your cap to Lake Central.
"We've got to find a way to execute and play our style of basketball, get the shots we want, instead of forcing them."
Tyler Wideman led the Indians (3-1, 2-0) with 20 points — nine in the third quarter — and seven rebounds. Mike Miklusak, who was sick Thursday, added 16 points and Matt Meneghetti had 12.
L.C. shot 7-of-19 from beyond the arc, with Meneghetti hitting 4 of his 7 attempts.
"The first three games, we didn't come out in the second half like we wanted to," Miklusak said. "Tonight, we just worked the ball around, took easy shots, made easy passes, and didn't force anything."
No. 8 Crown Point (2-2, 1-1) got a team-high nine points from reserve Zac Plesac.
"I thought our kids brought good energy, but we're still learning what guys can play what positions," coach Dave Milausnic said. "We've got versatile guys on our roster."
Lake Central now leads the series with C.P., 22-8, since 1993-94.
