Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass
Members of the Xel-Ha Escuela de Danza perform an Aztec dance at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church in St. John. Two accounts published in the 1640s, tell how peasant Juan Diego saw a vision of a young lady bathed in light while walking to Mexico City on Dec. 9, 1531. The lady asked for a church to be built at that site in her. Diego told his story to the Spanish bishop. The Virgin later told Diego to gather some flowers from the top of Tepeyac Hill. He carried them back to the bishop in his peasant cloak and on Dec. 12 when he presented it to bishop the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe miraculously was imprinted on the fabric, according to Wikipedia.
