Super Bowl at The Venue

There's still time to make plans to celebrate the Super Bowl on Sunday at Hammond's Horseshoe Casino. The spacious Venue will be turned into a massive sports bar with 60-foot screen TV's, a $5,0000 giveaway in the big Game Super Square and two food packages. For $15, you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet with guaranteed seating on the Venue floor or mezzanine level. Big Party

Local After School Matters culinary instructor Gloria Hafer of Chicago's Southeast Side is getting prepared for a feast on Sunday in honor of the Big Game. Hafer annually turns her house into Super Bowl party central for family and friends as she prepares an extravagant spread of appetizers, entrees, finger foods, soup, salads, and assorted sweets.

Football Bash

The St. Michael's Super Raffle and Football Party will be held Sunday at St. Michael's Parish Hall, 16 Wilhelm St., Schererville. Doors open at 3 p.m. An all-you-can-eat chicken and sausage buffet will be served a half hour before the game with the raffle occurring after the game. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Charity Food Drive

Culver's, 980 W. U.S. 30, in Schererville, and 2101 LaPorte Ave., in Valparaiso, is presenting its annual food drive through Feb. 28. The eateries are accepting nonperishable food items as well as personal hygiene products and monetary donations. Donations will be given to  the St. John Township trustee to benefit needy children and families in the Tri-Town area and to Hilltop Neighborhood House to benefit needy children and families in the Valparaiso area.
