Are you a fan of all things corn? The Crossroads Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking for you. The chamber will present its Cooking with Corn Competition at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Crown Point around the courthouse square. There will also be a Corn-On-The-Cob Eating Contest at 1 p.m.

Anyone with a great corn recipe can compete for the famous corn trophy. Recipes for side dishes, entrees or desserts will be accepted. For more details and to register for the contest, call the Crossroads Chamber of Commerce at (219) 769-8180.

Toast to 5th Anniversary

Crown Brewing in Crown Point will celebrate its 5th anniversary today. In honor of the celebration, there will be tours of the new barrel aging cellar in the old Lake County Title Building. The cellar was once used as the fallout shelter for Crown Point during the Cold War.

Learn about Beer

A "Beer 101" program will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave. Marty Nachel, author of "Beer for Dummies" will discuss the history of beer, ingredients and the process of making ale.
