New restaurant has ribbon cutting

BlackStone Woodfire Grill, 7311 Mallard Lane, Schererville, invited guests to a special ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday. The restaurant specializes in wood fire grilling using a blend of oak, hickory and apple woods. Berghoff's Oktoberfest

Chicago's Berghoff restaurant will have a grand celebration beginning next week. The Berghoff's 28th annual Oktoberfest celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 11 to 13 at John C. Kluczynski Federal Plaza in Chicago. In addition, Oktoberfest specials, and other in-restaurant celebrations continue through Oct. 26.

Mokena Food and Wine Festival

The 10th annual Mokena Food and Wine Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 14 at Historic McGovney-Yunker Farm, 10824 LaPorte Road, Mokena, Ill. Enjoy food, wine and live entertainment at the event. For more information, visit

Halfway to St. Pat's Day Celebration

T.J. Maloney's Authentic Irish Pub will have its "Halfway to St. Pat's Day" Celebration Sept. 13 and 14. The pub is located at Radisson Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville. Drink specials and giveaways will be available as well as a preview of the pub's fall menu created by Chef Ken Regan and Chef Javier Ledesma. Live entertainment will also be featured. Cultivate Festival

Chipotle will present its Cultivate Chicago Festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 in Chicago's Lincoln Park. During the one day, free festival, participants will have the opportunity to watch cooking demos by celebrity chefs, hear live music, sample menu items and more. Food will also be available for purchase.

Among chefs offering cooking demos will be Graham Elliot; Carla Hall; Paul Kahan; Tony Mantuano, Nate Appleman and Joel Holland of Chipotle and more. For more information, visit

Hofbrauhaus Oktoberfest

Hofbrauhaus Chicago, located in Rosemont, Ill., will celebrate its first Oktoberfest Sept. 13 to Oct. 31 in MB Financial Park in Rosemont. Bavarian specialties, live music, dancing and more will be featured. A stein-holding competition called Masskrugstemmen will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.
