One of the most popular food fundraisers in the region is coming up soon.
The Meals on Wheels Dine with the Chefs Gala 2013 will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 3 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville. Tickets are $100 per person. Chefs from the region will be creating a multi-course meal for the event.
Among chefs in attendance will be Elida Abeyta of Ivy Tech, Jim Galligan of Valparaiso University, Ruben Calvo of Ruben's Mexican Grill, Harry Karahalois of Briar Ridge Country Club, Tim Merkel of Youche Country Club, Beverly Seleb of Ivy Tech, Joe Trama of Trama Catering, Thomas Spoor of Horseshoe Casino, Terry Zych of Ivy Tech, and more. Spaghetti Fundraiser
The East Chicago Culinary Club will present a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 28 at Ivy Tech East Chicago Campus, 410 E. Columbus Drive. The event is presented in honor of Marilyn Mendez (4pawsforability.org). Tickets for spaghetti without meat are $6; $7 with meat. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, dinner roll with butter.
Visit Calumet City Siam Marina for last time
Don't forget to mark Feb. 26 on your calendar. That's the day Tammy Pham, one of our region's star chefs, will close Siam Marina Thai restaurant in Calumet City's River Oaks Mall. Pham is also the chef/owner of Asparagus in Merrillville.
Stay tuned for the opening of a new Siam Marina in Tinley Park, Ill. It will be located at 16846 S. Oak Park Ave. Opening date is yet to be determined. FYI: (708) 862-3438
Upcoming Chefs Meeting
If you'd like to socialize with some of the area's top chefs, check out the next ACF Chefs of Northwest Indiana's monthly meeting. Their February meeting is Feb. 25 at Comfort's Catering, 9587 N.
