Restaurants in the region and throughout Chicagoland are preparing for the haunting season in tasty and fun ways. Food fans have their pick of ghoulish happenings and menus. The following events are a sample of options:
At O'Donovan's Pub and Restaurant, 2100 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, general manager Frankie Zela, a native of Calumet City, will present the "Halloween Bash" and "Halloween Hangover Brunch."
The "Mash Bash" takes place from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Oct. 27. Executive chef Victor DeLeon has prepared special dishes for the holiday. Costumes are encouraged for guests to be eligible to enter a costume contest for prizes. Also available is an optional party package ($40) from 8 p.m. to midnight featuring unlimited beer, wine, cocktails and treats. Scary tunes will play during the bash.
Zela and staff have also concocted a series of Halloween-inspired specialty drinks including the Pumpkin Pie Martini, Bacon and Bourbon, Fruit Loopy Shooter and Tiramisu Martini. O'Donovan's "All You Can Eat Halloween Hangover Brunch Buffet" will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28. Cost is $13.95 for adults; $6.95 for children under 11 years old. FYI: (773) 478-2100
STAR PLAZA GOES SCARY
T.J. Maloney's Authentic Irish Pub at Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville, will present its "Captain's Crypt" Halloween Costume & Dance Party from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. Oct. 27. Drink specials, including $2 Miller Lite bottled beer, $2 shots, $3 bombs and $3 Captain Morgan's will be available. There'll also be a battle of the DJs. Best costume will earn a $1,000 cash prize.

Boorito Fundraiser
It's no trick. Chipotle Mexican Grill nationwide is celebrating the spooky holiday once again with its "$1 Million Boorito Fundraiser." The Boorito event takes place from 4 p.m. to closing on Halloween, Oct. 31.
In honor of all ghosts' and goblins' special day, the eatery will treat customers dressed in a costume to a burrito, bowl, salad, or order of tacos, for only $2. Proceeds, up to $1 million, will be donated to the chain's Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a more healthful and sustainable food supply.
