Parents searching for interesting and cultural activities for their children, may want to plan a trip to Barker Mansion in Michigan City soon.
The mansion's annual "American Girl Doll Tea Party" will be held at 2 p.m. April 20. The featured doll during the event will be Molly. Girls may bring American Girl dolls or any other dolls to the party. Featured during the event will be a tea party etiquette lesson, World War II-inspired treats such as sugar-free apple tarts, thumbprint cookies, s'mores, cupcakes, tea and lemonade, which will be served in the Drawing Room.
Tickets are $8 for girls age 5 and older; $12 for adults. A minimum of one adult should be present for every two children attending. Prepaid reservations are necessary. Call (219) 873- 1520. Barker Mansion is located at 631 Washington St., Michigan City.

Chefs from Great Lakes Catering will make a meal fit for a queen for the event which also includes a presentation of "The Queens" by Ken Brelsford.
Each dinner guest will be given the identity of a person from Elizabethan times. If guests would like to don dazzling hats, vintage clothing or special jewelry, it's encouraged at this event.
The dinner/theater event ($35) is presented by the Metamorphosis Traveling Theater Company, Community Arts Society of Trinity and Great Lakes Catering. While reservations were required in advance, interested parties may call (219) 874-4355 to inquire if any tickets are still available.
Greek Islands restaurant, 200 S. Halsted St., Chicago, in conjunction with Chicago Gourmet, will present a "Grecian Delights - An Evening of Art, Cuisine and Wine" dinner April 22.
Managing partner Gus Couchell will introduce his new heart-healthy menu at the event. The dinner will include a tour of the National Hellenic Museum, which is near the restaurant. Greek Islands, this year, is celebrating its 42nd anniversary. Among menu items will be fried eggplant, bekri meze, Norwegian salmon, vegetarian moussaka, beef kapama and more.
The museum tour begins at 4:30 p.m. with a reception following at 5:30 p.m. at Greek Islands. Dinner will follow. Cost is $69 for Chicago Gourmet members; and $79 for non-members. FYI: Reserve a spot at ChicagoGourmets.org.
