Cherry Tree Cafe and Restaurant, 1312 N. Main St., in Crown Point, will celebrate its first anniversary next week.

Celebrating Plans for Restaurant Opening
The once iconic Miller Bakery Cafe in Gary has been closed since 2010 but food fans can look forward to another eatery at that location.
Jack Strode and Diana Twyman, a mother and son team, recently bought the building and plan to reopen the restaurant this spring. A recent Times story stated the eatery will reopen as The Miller Bakery Cafe but then undergo a name change at some point in the future.
The eatery's menu is expected to star steak and seafood.
Wine and Canvas

Chili Supper
Have a taste for chili? Attend the 15th annual Hobart Kiwanis Chili Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at St. Bridget School Gym, 114 Center St., Hobart. Start Making Plans for Valentine's Day
Actress/singer Felicia Fields will perform her revue "Mess Around and Fall in Love" Feb. 14 at Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. Dinner will also be offered during the special event.
