Plan to go in search of Easter eggs in the region.
Westfield Southlake, 2109 Southlake Mall, Hobart, will have an Easter Egg Hunt from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance during the event which takes place throughout the mall. Kids will have a chance to collect eggs to obtain prizes and candy.
Exclusive golden eggs filled with candy and gift cards will also be given away. Other festivities include a petting zoo, crafts, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and more. FYI: (219) 738-2265
Ivy Tech Dinner Series
The East Chicago campus of Ivy Tech is turning out an assortment of delicious recipes during its Thursday night dinner series. The series began last week in the East Chicago campus' culinary department dining room at 410 E. Columbus Drive.
The dinners are presented under the guidance of instructor Beverly Seleb and Elida Abeyta, Hospitality Program chairwoman at Ivy Tech.
Advanced culinary students who take the Customer Service course through the department are responsible for putting together the meals that star in the series. This season, once again, will feature celebrity chef recipes in the spotlight. The students chose specific chefs and picked recipes to create from their collections.
Upcoming schedule is:
• April 4: Wolfgang Puck: California Classical French cuisine
• April 11: Alex Guarnaschelli/ Italian-French cuisine
• April 18: Paula Deen/Southern cuisine
• April 25: Jacques Pepin/French cuisine
• May 2: Finale is a Mystery Chef
Reservations are necessary for the dinner series, which runs every Thursday continuing through May 2. Seating begins at 4:45 p.m. and ends at 6:15 p.m. Cost is $15 per person (cash only). Vote for new host
There's still time to vote for the new "Check, Please!" host.
"Check, Please!" is the popular restaurant review show that airs on WTTW-channel 11 in Chicago. Among 17 contestants vying for the role is Munster's Frank Brunacci, who owns the truffle importing business, The Chef's Diamond Company, with his wife Lillian.
Brunacci, a native of Australia, was also the former executive chef of Sixteen restaurant at Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.
