Luck of the Irish in Crown Point

Mark your calendar to attend the Crown Point St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday. Prior to the parade, guests can enjoy a traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage Meal from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Crown Point Fire Station. The parade will be at dusk along south Main Street. Tickets for the dinner are $10 for adults; $9 for senior citizens and a Kids Meal featuring a hot dog, chips, drink and a cookie is $4. Call (219) 662-3290

St. Pat's Party at Sixth Street

Horseshoe Casino's new bar Sixth Street, which features an extensive beer program, will present a St. Patrick's celebration on Sunday. The Hammond casino's Sixth Street will highlight music by The Chicago Rovers throughout the day. The band will also be playing bagpipes on the casino floor. In addition, the bar will serve Moylan's Irish Red, Four Horseman Irish Stout and Irish Car Bombs. FYI: horseshoehammond.com

Star Plaza going green this weekend

T. J. Maloney's Authentic Irish Pub at Star Plaza in Merrillville continues its St. Patrick's Celebration.

T.J. Maloney's 8th annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration runs through Sunday. Different themes will be featured each day and various activities will be held including a Bushmills Irish Whiskey Tasting, Sunday's St. Patrick's Day party and a midnight countdown on St. Patrick's Day Eve.

Various food specials will be spotlighted including corned beef and cabbage dinner buffets today and Saturday.

The St. Pat's Bash on Saturday will feature the corned beef and cabbage dinner buffet, performances by Mayer School of Irish Dancers, Lake County Pipes & Drum and New Element and an appearance by "Tom & Maggie O'Little" from "Those Funny Little People." The O'Littles will also appear on Sunday. Cover charge for the bash is $10 for presale; $20 at the door.

Kudos to Three Floyds

Mike, Nick and Simon Floyd of Three Floyds Brewing in Munster have been named semifinalists in the Outstanding Wine, Spirits and Beer Professionals category for The James Beard Foundation Awards. Finalist nominees will be announced March 18. The James Beard Foundation Awards, known as the Academy Awards of the food industry will be held May 6 in New York City.
