Have a good pie recipe? The Downtown Hammond Council will have its Bizarre Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and once again the community is encouraged to enter the annual pie competition at the event.
Bizarre Bazaar will be held at Harrison Park, at Hohman Avenue and Waltham Street, in Hammond. In addition to the pie competition, there will be live entertainment, food, arts and crafts, kids games and art activities, pony rides, bean bag tournament and more.
Entry fee for the pie baking contest is $5 per pie (with a limit of two pies) if you register in advance or $10 per pie (limit two pies) if you register on the day of the event. Pie registration begins at 10 a.m. with judging from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 12:45 p.m. For more information, visit downtownhammond.org.
Chefs to Meet
ACF Chefs of NWI will have their monthly meeting Sept. 23 at Svagati, 1082 Joliet in Dyer. Chef host will be Tony Sanfillipo of Svagati. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

NFL-Themed Festivities and Game Day Menu
T.J. Maloney's Authentic Irish Pub at Radisson Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville, presents its "NFL Ticket" allowing patrons to watch every minute of every NFL game on all game days on either its 102" screen or in front of nine flat-screen TVs.

Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off
The village of Homewood will present its 12th annual Fall Fest and Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. The event will be held on Martin Avenue from Hickory Road to Ridge Road in Homewood, Ill.
The Chili Cook-Off, hosted by the Community Relations Commission, begins at 2 p.m. A tasting, which is open to the public, will be at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the cook-off will benefit South Suburban Humane Society. FYI: Visit HomeSweetHomewood.com for rules and an entry form. Registration is required.
