Authentic Chinese food will be in the spotlight today during the Chinese Moon Festival at Purdue University Calumet, 2200 169th St., Hammond.

The event is sponsored by PUC's Offices of International Programs Office and Student Activities, Multicultural Campus Council and the Chinese Student Association. It will be held in the Fitness and Recreation Center.

Guests may sample dishes such as Fujian beef, Gong Bao chicken, seafood, vegetable noodles, meatballs, green beans and Moon Cake on the diverse buffet. Other activities will include Chinese games, music, ethnic dances, juggling and more. Tickets are $12 at the door. FYI: (219) 989-2765

DINNER AND COMEDY SHOW

A special dinner will be part of Comedy Night at the CVPA Oct. 12 at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Rd., Munster. Among menu items will be a salad bar, veal cutlet, roast pork with sauerkraut, apples and bacon; spaetzle, brats, hot German potato salad and other items. Tickets are $32 for dinner and show. Cash bar will be available.

John Knight and Bill Brady will perform. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with buffet meal from 7 to 8 p.m. and comedy show at 8:15 p.m. FYI: (219) 836-1930

OKTOBERFEST

Geja's Cafe, 340 W. Armitage, Chicago, will present its "Oktoberfest" event Oct. 1. The theme will be a German Winemaker event, which is part of Geja's ongoing Winemaker Dinner Series.

Reception begins at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and wine discussion at 7 p.m. Among dishes on the four-course menu will be cheese fondue, beef tenderloin, chicken and jumbo shrimp entree with a flaming chocolate fondue to end the evening. Tickets are $55 per person, including wines, dinner, tax and gratuity. FYI: (773) 281-9101

CALLING ALL FOODIES

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the delicious event happening this weekend in Millennium Park: Chicago Gourmet 2012 runs Saturday and Sunday. The event, presented by Bon Appetit, will feature two full days of food and wine, spirits, and beer events starring Chicago-area chefs and other special guests.

Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 29 and noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 30. Also in the spotlight will be celebrity chef demos, educational seminars, book signings, tastings and more. FYI: chicagogourmet.org
