Would you like to increase your knowledge of Italian wines? Plan to attend "Lezione di Vino: Wine Class, Italian Wines 101" presented by Ciao Bella, 1514 U.S.41, Schererville, from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 20. Six wines will take the spotlight during the event. Cost is $20 per person. Reservations are required.

Also at Ciao Bella will be a cooking demo by executive chef Randy Berg on Oct. 23. A reception begins at 6:30 p.m. with demo at 7 p.m. Cost is $45 per person plus tax and gratuity. FYI: (219) 322-6800

Food and Wine Fest

Something Fishy in Dyer

St. Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, will have a Fish Fry from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the church's banquet hall. Dinner will include fried or baked fish, roasted potatoes, tater tots, cabbage and noodles, green beans and salad bar. Tickets are $12 for adults; $6 for children six and younger. Region chefs to appear in Tri Kappa event

There'll be a great deal of local talent working in Crown Point kitchens during the Tri Kappa Kitchen Tour and Tasting coming up on Oct. 14. Chefs featured on the premises will serve up samples of eclectic cuisine from some of the region's hottest restaurants.

Culinary professionals/chefs in the spotlight will be Patrick Scholz of Lucrezia Ristorante; Thomas Forbes of White Hawk Country Club; Tammy Pham of Asparagus; Tim Merkel of Youche Country Club; Joseph Gaal of Sage Restaurant; Tony Sanfilippo of Svagati Ristorante; Northwest Indiana Chapter of ACF president Cheryl Molenda, also of Inn at Aberdeen; Jack Mix of Comfort's Catering; Billie Ross of The Roasted Tomato; Mohammed "Sid" Siddiqui of Sedexo USA for Porter Regional; and Steve Coppolillo of Carmine's Restaurant in Chicago.

While the event is now sold out, culinary fans can still purchase raffle tickets for a neo-impressionist print of Julia Child, by artist and Crown Point native James-Paul Brown to be raffled off during the event. The art work was donated by Marty Wheeler, president of the Lake Court House Foundation. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Lake Court House Foundation. Pizza Fundraiser

Pizza Persona, 614 W. Diversey Parkway, is planning to donate 10 percent of its proceeds on Oct. 10 to Wish for Wendy, an event benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Food fans can choose their own one-of-a-kind dough, sauce, cheese and toppings. The pizzas range from 45 to $9. FYI: pizzapersona.com
