Dwayne Wade, the All-Star guard for the Miami Heat and Chicagoland native, announced his collaboration with the Chicago-based Tie Bar to create a line of ties.
"Dwayne just made so much sense; both on-court and off-court he's nothing less than a gentleman," said Anand Shah, CEO of The Tie Bar talking to media Monday at The James Hotel in Chicago.
"He's got a great following, not just when it comes to sports fans, but also to people in fashion. That's what attracts us to Dwayne and the fact that he is a Chicago local."
While Shah and The Tie Bar are undoubtedly excited to bring in the NBA star, Wade said the respect was mutual.
"I'm just adding a little bit to an already great company," said Wade, who was also at The James in Chicago Monday for the launch.
"It's a young company, but it's blown up very fast. They have the infrastructure; they have the blueprint and it's just me coming in, bringing my ideas to the table."
Wade's collection will feature approximately 30 bow ties, 15 neckties and 15 pocket squares and will be released this fall on TheTieBar.com.
Wade said the Tie Bar's ties are sold "relatively inexpensively" at $15 each. But Shah said he expected most of Wade's collection to range between $30 and $40
