If you’re still not sure what to get that special person on your list, here are a few gifts available right here in Northwest Indiana.

For a Sparkle

Jewelry is always a popular choice among spouses as gifts, but it’s usually the wife who receives the sparkling gift. At Albert’s Diamond Jewelers in Schererville and Merrillville, however, men may find something to add to their Christmas wish list.

The Men’s John Hardy Classic Chain Bead Bracelet is made of beads crafted from dragon blood jasper, reflecting deep red tones and forest green hues that intermingle with sterling silver spacers, says Christine Martinez, marketing and social media coordinator for Albert’s. “This John Hardy bracelet will definitely elevate your style,” she says.

For those on a budget, Martinez suggests for women the Time & Eternity diamond pendant, made from interwoven rings that represent now and forever. Other must-haves that will make an impression include a sterling silver TwoGether two-stone diamond ring and Gabriel & Co. 14k white gold Geometric Peek A Boo earrings, Martinez says.

Head over to Belush Jewelers in Crown Point and you’ll find everything from costume jewelry to custom-made pieces, and at Malinich Jewelers in St. John, the store’s collection of DaVinci Beads allows shoppers to put together custom-made charm bracelets, necklaces or earrings that match the style and personality of their loved ones.

For Adventure Enthusiasts

If you have someone in your life who loves adventure, a gift card or money toward an experience of a lifetime may be the perfect present. Royal American, a travel agency in Dyer, offers several different trips for all tastes—from cruises and motor coach tours to trips to places like the Far East, Greece and Australia.

Those looking for an experience closer to home may enjoy a night at the Escape Room in Schererville. A fast growing entertainment concept, escape room games are real-world adventures where participants find themselves in a room surrounded by clues that they must solve to escape.

If shopping for an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys cycling, check out the Chesterton Bicycle Station, where you’ll find smaller items like a bicycle computer, which keeps track of a person’s personal information such as speed, distance and heart rate, owner Tony Evans says.

Headlights are a popular stocking stuffer, with new technology providing better brightness for biking at all times. Not sure what the biker in your life needs? A monetary gift toward an indoor bicycle trainer or the newest trend in bicycles—fat tire bikes—may be the perfect solution. “Most bicyclists are fair weather riders,” he says. “This fat tire bicycle gets them out in the winter, too.”

For the Child in All of Us

Whether you’re shopping for a child—or the child in all of us—G&G Hobbies in Griffith has plenty of options perfect for gift-giving. Snap-together models include police cars, muscle cars, airplanes, space shuttles and fighter planes, while unique model cars are another popular find among hobbyists, says Larry Gradek, owner of the shop. “It’s a great idea for a grandma or grandpa looking for a stocking stuffer for grandchildren,” he says.

If someone is at the beginning of building a train set—or is looking for the perfect accessory to finish one off—G&G Hobbies has a variety of buildings, trees and train cars that can be purchased individually.

Park Lane Hobbies in Dyer carries several models, trains and collectibles, and is a one-of-a-kind destination for model railroaders, slot car racers and model rocket hobbyists. With its large selection of HO scale trains and accessories, visitors to the store also will enjoy seeing a built-from-scratch centerpiece layout that includes a steel mill as a tribute to the Region.

Chesterton Toys is another great option, with many products that encourage an active imagination. From classic and wooden toys to educational puzzles and games, the kid-powered environment is also environmentally friendly with sustainable forestry, eco- and child-friendly dyes, and recycled materials used in their toys.

For the Health Nut

The Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness facilities in Schererville and Chesterton are popular places to get fit in the Region, but they’re also great places to stop and do a little shopping. Teresa Nirtaut of Omni says there’s something for everyone—from massage packages to membership gift certificates and training packages. Get Fit Kits allows gift givers to choose between six and twelve fit-filled visits to Omni, while at the same time giving the gift of health and happiness, she says.

Community Hospital Fitness Pointe in Munster also offers special holiday packages to help relieve the stress of the season in its SpaPointe, or gain fitness through membership certificates.

New Balance in Merrillville also offers gift cards—perfect for someone who needs athletic footwear, clothing or personalized gear, especially if they have medical conditions that may impact footwear, for example.

Nature’s Remedies in Valparaiso has a wide selection of treats and gifts, from essential oils to lip balms, high-quality soaps and candles. If you’re looking for something sweet, the health store also sells organic chocolates, lollipops and jelly beans. Gift certificates are available as well for a quick and easy gift that allows your loved one to personally pick out the perfect spices, supplements or body care items.

For Mature Family Members

Sometimes not all family members and friends can make it to gatherings, especially those who reside in nursing homes or assisted living communities.

Natalie Rayhons, marketing manager for Bickford Senior Living, which operates a campus in Crown Point, says there are several small gifts that those who can’t easily leave their homes may enjoy.

Books, magazines, slipper socks, cocoa packets, crossword and puzzle books, tea, and batteries all make great stocking stuffers, she says, adding that arthritis-friendly gadgets, such as jar openers, cup holders and grabbers, also make nice gifts.
