Auto fans attending First Look for Charity on Feb. 7 at Chicago's McCormick Place also had the chance to sample tasty and creative offerings from various restaurants and food venues.
First Look for Charity is the annual gala held the day before the Chicago Auto Show opens to the public and this year proceeds from the event benefited 18 charities.
"It's one of the largest one-day fundraisers in the city of Chicago," said Kurt Schiele, Chicago Auto Show Chairman.
During the gala, guests viewed sleek new cars while enjoying samples of various cuisine from Chicago's restaurants and caterers.
Among food vendors showcasing standout fare were Savor Chicago, Catered by Design, Bub City, Garrett Popcorn Shops, Devon Seafood, David Burke's Primehouse, Real Urban BBQ, Texas de Brazil, Roy's, Union Sushi and Barbecue Bar and others.
The event, which this year took the theme "Winter Games," featured ethnic inspirations in food from traditional American fare to Italian, German, Latin American and Japanese recipes.
Champagne was served throughout the evening and various recipes in the spotlight were chilled Asian spring rolls, grilled cheddar sticks and tomato basil soup, pulled pork and cole slaw, maple black pepper bacon skewers, hash brown potato muffins, mini brioche and pulled pork, Wagyu beef ravioli, sausage and potatoes, spicy shrimp sushi rolls and more.
Guests lined up for bags of Garrett's Pop Corn and enjoyed sundaes from Andy's Frozen Custard among other fun foods.
Charities in the spotlight this year were Franciscan St. James Health, March of Dimes, Franciscan Community Benefit Services, Misericordia, 100 Club of Chicago, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, Catholic Charities of The Archdiocese of Chicago. Catholic Charities of The Diocese of Joliet, Clearbrook, The Cradle Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities, Illinois Spina Bifida Asssociation, JDRF, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Special Olympics Illinois, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation and Jesse White Tumbling Team.
