Savor the South Shore looking for participants

Food fans can make plans for Savor the South Shore Restaurant Weeks from Feb. 19 to March 4.

Savor the South Shore features three-course meals that are specially priced. In 2017, more than 30 local restaurants participated in the event.

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is currently seeking restaurants to participate in the event. Restaurateurs interested in submitting their restaurants for participation should submit their menu information at alongthesouthshore.com/savor. The form will include menu prices and other specifics, hours available and whether a lunch menu also will be offered. Participation is free and open to all Northwest Indiana restaurants.

Participating restaurants will have their menus listed on the Savor the South Shore website and eateries also will be promoted on the Savor the South Shore Facebook page and the VIP Text List. Those interested in sponsorship of the event can call 219-989-7770.

Wine-tasting classes offered at Ciao Bella 

Ciao Bella, 1514 U.S. 41, Schererville, will have monthly Wine Tasting Classes beginning Friday. Classes will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the restaurant on the third Friday of every month. Cost is $25 and includes wine tasting, small Italian bites and lessons. If guests sign up for three or more classes, the fee is $20 per person plus tax and gratuity. Assorted wines will be featured. Valentine-themed cooking show set for TATC

Theatre at the Center will present the From the Farm Cooking Show at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the theater, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster. The cooking show, hosted by writer Philip Potempa, will have a Valentine's theme.

A seven-course meal will be presented on stage with all recipes from Potempa's "Further From the Farm" cookbook. Recipes will include Artichoke Hearts Spread from bandleader Fred Waring; Rudolph Valentino's Spaghetti Sauce; The Waldorf Astoria's Red Velvet Cake; and more. Live music from a barbershop quartet also will be featured.

Specials at Glenwood Oaks on menu 

Glenwood Oaks, 106 N. Main St., Glenwood, presents All-You-Can-Eat Mondays featuring all-you-can-eat perch, shrimp and frog legs. On Tuesday nights, guests may order bottles of house wine for $6. FYI: Call 708-758-4400 or visit glenwoodoaks.com.
