Still time to audition for  'Check, Please!'

"Check, Please! executive producer and creator David Manilow will be on the search for a new host for the popular show through March 1.

Former host of "Check, Please!" Alpana Singh recently left to open The Boarding House restaurant in Chicago.

Among characteristics Manilow and his team are  looking for: "Man or woman, young or old, our new host needs to be nice, fun to work with, and a brand ambassador for 'Check, Please!' He or she could be currently (or formerly) working as a chef, server, bartender, sommelier, restaurateur, writer, blogger, or other occupation that allows for a broad, intimate understanding of the culinary world. Dining with the Best Chefs

The Meals on Wheels Dine with the Chefs Gala 2013 will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 3 at Avalon Manor in Merrillville. Tickets are $100 per person. Chefs from the region will be creating a multi-course meal for the event.

Among chefs in attendance will be Elida Abeyta of Ivy Tech, Jim Galligan of Valparaiso University, Ruben Calvo of Ruben's Mexican Grill, Harry Karahalois of Briar Ridge Country Club, Tim Merkel of Youche Country Club, Beverly Seleb of Ivy Tech, Joe Trama of Trama Catering, Thomas Spoor of Horseshoe Casino, Terry Zych of Ivy Tech, and more. Honors for Chief O'Neill's

The Chicago eatery Chief O'Neill's Pub and Restaurant, 3471 N. Elston, was recently voted one of the Top Ten Irish Pubs in the World by readers of the Irish magazine Ireland of the Welcomes. Chief O'Neill's owners are husband and wife team Brendan and Siobhan McKinney.

The restaurant will have a three-day St. Patrick's Day celebration March 15 to 17. There will be a buffet of Irish foods served in a heated tent in the restaurant's garden during the celebration. The Sunday Brunch Buffet will also be featured.

On March 16 and 17, the eatery will serve its Celtic traditional Pig Roast. FYI: (773) 473-5263

St. Patty's Day Celebration

Bridge Bar, 315 N. Lasalle, Chicago, will have its "Dye One On" St. Patty's Day Celebration March 16. The event will be held during the dying of the Chicago River, which is turned green for St. Patrick's Day.

From 9 to 11 a.m., Bridge Bar will offer a ticketed breakfast buffet overlooking the Chicago River. Cost is $30. Then from 11 a.m. on, the eatery will serve signature dishes and other specials. FYI:  (312) 822-0100.
