Bruce Workman, Fair Oaks Farms' Master Cheesemaker, recently won honors at the 2013 American Cheese Society Contest in Madison, Wis. on Aug. 3.
Workman's Smoked Sweet Swiss won first place in the Smoked Cheeses- Cow Milk Category while the Smoked Gouda won third place in the Smoked Cheeses Cow Milk Category.
"We are proud that Bruce's efforts and Fair Oaks Farms Fine Cheeses have earned world championship recognition," said Julie Basich, Fair Oaks Farms general manager. The contest featured 1,794 submissions from 257 companies. FYI: fofarms.com
Shortbread made from natural ingredients
The Duchy Originals brand, from Waitrose, features shortbread and biscuits created from all-natural, non-GMO ingredients. The brand was founded by HRH Prince Charles The Prince of Wales in 1992. He wanted to offer high quality products that were made with natural ingredients created in harmony with the environment.
A portion of the proceeds from the purchase of the products is donated to The Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation. Duchy Originals is produced in the UK by Walkers Shortbread Limited. Sample Cocktails and Appetizers
The "Go Girl Launch Party, presented by the Go Girl Travel Network, will be held Thursday at Gallery Bar, 738 N. Clark St., Chicago.
