For visitors to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo., there are many facets of entertainment to explore.

The historic theme park was established by Chicago natives The Herschend Family and features everything from rides and shows to craft and food vendors and more.

Also on the park's premises is the Midwest Living Culinary & Craft School which draws guests from around the country who visit to learn to make various projects and recipes.

"We have classes every day that the park is open," said Debbie Dance Uhrig, culinary instructor at the Midwest Living Culinary & Craft School. Silver Dollar City remains open for the Christmas season through Dec. 30 and then reopens in the spring.

Dance Uhrig, who has worked at the school since its beginnings in 2008, said class attendees come from a variety of places.

"They really come from all over the country. I've had people from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and so many other states come to the classes," she said.

In addition to paying for admission into the park or having a season pass, guests pay $15 extra to take a class.

Classes range from holiday favorites during the Christmas season to down home specialties at other times of the year. Recipes for seasonal side dishes, dips, party foods and more are also featured.

"We also get every age you can imagine from kids to newlyweds. It's an interesting venue," Dance Uhrig said. Many people, she added, attend repeatedly to take various classes.

As part of the classes, guests may also taste the fixings. "We serve them and they eat. We spoil them rotten," Dance Uhrig said.

The culinary instructor said what she enjoys most about her role is interacting with the people.

"People that come to Silver Dollar City are so generous and family-oriented," she said.

The following list is a schedule of classes available through the end of December.
