Star Plaza will present a splendid spread for little princesses
Calling all little royals! Star Plaza has a feast planned for young food fans this weekend.
A Princess Brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Grand Metropolitan Ballroom at Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville. (As of press time, the Feb. 5 brunch is sold out. Plans are underway for a summer event).
"We had a Princess Brunch last summer. We were originally going to do it as a one-time thing but we had such a good response that we decided to do it again," said Patrick Brown, director of food and beverage for Star Plaza. "The demand was there."
The brunch is now scheduled to officially be held twice a year.
During the event, presented in conjunction with Fairy Tale Headquarters, children will get to meet and interact with assorted characters. Starring will be Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid, Jasmine and even Aladdin.
"It's going to be a real family-oriented event," said Brown. "People can come in, have great food and entertainment."
On the brunch menu will be carving and omelet stations; French toast; three-cheese pasta; chicken tenderloins; made-to-order waffles; assorted pastries, a chocolate fountain and more.
"It's a very extensive buffet," Brown said.
He said Star Plaza personnel are happy to present something tailor-made for the little ones but that the whole family can enjoy.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in the "Best Dressed Princess" contest at the party.
"We'd like to do more events geared toward local families," Brown said. "We want to be here for the community."
