Drop zones with benches, lockers and cubbies providing storage and reducing clutter at the most common entry point in homes are getting a new addition – charging stations. Often equipped with Leviton’s USB charging receptacles, some plans include mini desks while others feature tall countertops.

This state-of-the-art wall outlet has the ability to charge up to three electronic devices at once with two USB ports and one standard receptacle. The USB ports charge a variety of electronics - tablets, smart and mobile phones, e-readers, portable music players and more – with sensors inside that monitor exactly how much power to provide individual devices.

According to Leviton, the USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle has been strategically designed with two vertical USB ports, which allows additional space for maneuvering charging cords and reduces stress on the cables while charging. Users appreciate the fact that they have a centralized charging location that no longer requires all those bulky USB adapters, which can be expensive to replace.

Compatibility includes: iPad, iPhone (including iPhone 5), Kindle Fire HD, iPod, tablets, mobile phones, Blackberry, Android phones, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, Bluetooth headsets, digital cameras, Kindle, Nook e-readers, GPS and many more. One note: the USB ports are not intended to charge two tablets simultaneously. If the devices' combined power requirements exceed the power capacity of the USB ports, the charger will automatically shut down to protect your devices. When charging two tablets use the high power USB port and the tamper-resistant receptacle.

Controlled by a smart chip that recognizes and optimizes the charging power of each device, the Leviton USB Charger actually allows you to spend less time charging your device and more time enjoying it. With a variety of configurations, four colors – white, ivory, light almond and black – plus handy mobile device station add-ons that keep everything on the wall if desired– these handy devices can also be retrofitted to fit most standard outlets.

Leviton plans to introduce a four-device charging option by the end of the year. You can learn more at
