Soup's on

Arrival of fall weather means a welcome return to soups on menus and on the minds of hungry appetites. Tastefully Simple has a line of quick and easy soup kits that offer six servings and are hearty additions handy to keep in the cupboard and pantry. Besides only needing water to whip up, they can also be customized, like the Perfectly Potato Cheddar Soup Mix, which works great when adding on-half pound browned ground beef and garnished with crumbled bacon. Or make it beer cheese soup by replacing the one cup water with one cup beer. It can also be used as a base for pot pies, when just adding cooked chicken and veggies.

Bright idea

The 4V MAX Snakelight Rechargeable Lithium Flashlight from Black and Decker, launching in November, wraps and adjusts to provide a source of light where needed. The hose attaches to almost anything from tent poles and car hoods to around pipes under sinks, bicycle frames and more. The flexible hose also bends into a tri-pod shape to stand on a work table or shine light to change a tire on the side of the road. The new lithium ion rechargeable battery offers up to five hours of runtime per charge, and because the battery is rechargeable, it eliminates the costly need for replacement alkaline batteries.
