New homes offer the latest design, style, comfort and quality. They provide a carefree lifestyle so you can enjoy living in your home, not working on it.
For starters, when you purchase a new home you are protected by a warranty. If anything goes wrong, your home is covered, and Olthof Homes is leading the way.
Beyond the standard builder's one-year limited warranty on workmanship and materials, Olthof Homes includes10 year structural, 4 year workmanship on the roof, lifetime warranty on the windows and an unmatched 1 year Customer Care program so you have peace of mind knowing there won't be any unanticipated out-of-pocket repair costs to absorb.
Beyond that, the ultimate benefit of buying new is having the opportunity to purchase your very own dream home. Rather than making due with someone else's choices, you have the advantage of living in a home and a neighborhood that truly reflects your taste, lifestyle and personality.
You are the first owner and everything is pristine, sparkling and brand new.
“We like the Portage area, and when we checked out the homes at Boardwalk we thought the prices were phenomenal,” Scott Deere said. “Just for comparison, we looked at 3-4 comparable existing homes in Portage. Honestly, for the price point we went back to Olthof. We were able to get more square footage, add a full basement and sunroom for just as much or less by building. Actually, we would have bought the model on the spot if it had the basement and sunroom.”
Scott and Theresa Maglish moved into their Heartland ranch in July.
“We really like the openness of the floor plan,” he said. “As it turns out, my mother now stays with us. She had a stoke about the same time we were getting serious about looking at homes since the rates were so low, and we were tired making rent payments. Our whole experience was amazing. Olthof is right on top of everything. It’s amazing how everything just worked out.”
Similarly, Christi Summers stopped by to check out a model in Boardwalk after a run on the lakefront earlier this year.
“We really hadn’t even decided if we were going to move,” she explained. “Our home was only four years old, and we actually put it on the market with a higher price than our real estate agent suggested just to see what would happen. But, once I walked through the model I was already sold. I called my husband and said, ‘you’ve got to see this house!’ After that, we dropped the price on our home, and it sold within two weeks.”
Even though she was originally dead set on searching for a ranch home in an established neighborhood, Christi fell in love with the 2-story Riverton and Boardwalk. She and her husband Fred moved into their new home in July.
“Our kids are older so we love how open the main floor is for entertaining along with the fact that all the bedrooms are upstairs and out of the way. The master suite is all the way at the end of the hall so it’s truly a sanctuary, our private retreat,” Christi added.
“Building our home was an absolutely amazing experience. We closed three weeks early. I’m super nitpicky and had a few things on my list for our one-month visit. All the trades came in and took care of everything. They didn’t even make me feel bad for having to come out and check the light in my shower only to find that I was using the wrong bulb. I would have hated to have to pay someone to change a light bulb!”
Six years after they originally looked at homes in Silverleaf because they wanted to build in Hanover Township, Daniel and Gayle Dinga were ready to make their move this summer.
“An illness made us change our plans and then the market changed so we honestly thought there would be no way we could afford a new home,” Gayle said. “But, the fact of the matter is, there was a ready-to-move Riverton in Silverleaf at just the right time for us – and it was affordable. Olthof Homes is a blessing to so many families looking to move into a brand new home – something practical with a nice feel and all the things that really count – without having to make an astronomical mortgage payment.”
The Dingas have been living in their new home for a month now.
“I’m very pleased,” Gayle explained. “I love everything about this home. They do such a great job picking everything out, and I’m so glad I didn’t have to go through all that.”
After spending nearly a year looking at both existing and new construction homes, Larry and Lori Harty discovered Covington.
“We wanted to look closer to I-65 and 231 to make my work travels a little easier, and we wanted to be in the Crown Point school district,” Lori said. “Olthof Homes has signs everywhere in the area so I did some research on their business handlings and reviewed the BBB.
Ready to move in played a 100% role at that point in our home search. The Shorewood had everything we were looking for - 4 bedrooms, full basement and over 2,300 square feet. Plus, this particular house had a nice backyard. We love the loft area upstairs that we’re using as a playroom for our children and plan to convert to a sitting/TV area when they get older. We are very happy with how things have turned out. The helpfulness of the Olthof staff with any issue has been wonderful.”
