A wise man once said, “All that glitters is not gold.” When it comes to designing your kitchen, it’s hard to decide what’s important and what isn’t. We end up over-doing it and in the process we create something with all the newest gadgets and trends, but somehow miss the charm. Here at Steiner Homes we want to help you design the kitchen you’ve always dreamed about without breaking the bank. Here are some ideas for you:

Let’s start with the island- just like the size of a professional basketball player, it’s the first thing you notice. As a general rule of thumb: the bigger the better. Obviously, it costs more to have more. We have seen some creative ways to keep the island affordable and stunning at the same time. Assuming a big kitchen island and granite (or quartz, laminate, butcher block, etc.) counter-top is a must; you can always knock out some of the base of the island. Consider leaving half of the island open- supported by decorative maple legs. The effect is two-fold: extra seating around the island & it’s more decorative.

The kitchen nook is another area you can take advantage of. Putting a bench in your kitchen is one of the best ways to bring back some of the charm. This is also another way to give space back to your seating areas. If you want, you can even use the space underneath the seats for storage! It doesn’t have to be super expensive or intricately detailed- in fact, the simpler the better.

Another area not to be overlooked is Crown & Rope trim detail on the cabinets. To an untrained eye, this is theextra factor that is seen without being noticed. Most will walk into your kitchen, see that it looks amazing, and not be able to put their finger on it. The secret reciepe? Cabinet detail.

At Steiner Homes, we have the artistic vision and experience to design the kitchen you’ve always dreamed of. Set up your meeting with Dave Gring today! (219.916.3744)
