Whether you're building a new home from the ground up or looking to incorporate some new amenities into an existing home, CK Building and Design Corporation, led by second generation builder Cory Kreith, wants you to be an integral part of the process.

"We had the privilege of working with Cory Kreith to build our first new custom dream home and would highly recommend him to build anyone's dream home or even remodel an existing," Amy Kooi-Day of Crown Point, said. "Cory's knowledge of the trade is truly remarkable, and his constant guidance throughout the process from start to finish always made us feel comfortable."

The Day family moved into their new home October 1st in time to celebrate their 11th wedding anniversary the next day.

"The quality of craftsmanship continues to impress us, as well as who ever walks through our home," Kooi-Day added. "Our home reflects our vision because Cory worked creatively and diligently with us until we were satisfied."

"With Cory Kreith at the helm, CK Building and Design brings a great deal of industry experience along with a tremendous amount of knowledge about the local area to the table," Rich Day said. "We were doing our homework - looking at existing homes and meeting with a number of different builders - when we saw Cory at a mutual family member's birthday party. It was completely by accident. At the time we were honestly leaning toward going with an existing home."

However, the fact that they would be working closely with Cory Kreith throughout the entire building process helped change their mind.

"To be completely honest, I wasn't comfortable working with the sales people you often encounter with other builders," Day said. "I liked the fact that we would be working directly with Cory throughout the building process."

"When I first met Rich and Amy, they gave me an idea of the kind of home they wanted," Kreith said. "They were frustrated by the fact that there just wasn't an existing home that met all their needs. Many of the homes they looked at had a great deal of wasted space, and they wanted all useable space. They never really found that large kitchen with a spacious, open living area they needed for entertaining. Energy efficiency was also a concern. With new construction, they were able to design their home just the way they wanted it."

Since the Days were already set on building their new home in Crown Point, Kreith was able to help them narrow down their options to a few select developments. From there, they weighed the merits of different home sites, including price, and settled on one in Feather Rock.

Taking the home site's unique topography into account, they worked together to create an original home plan that combined what they loved most about their current home, the existing homes they kept coming back to, and their ultimate dream home. The challenge was to design something that was as close to what the couple always wanted while staying within their budget.

"Cory's design program is great," Kooi-Day said. "It allowed us to really see how different options would affect the flow of the floor plan or change the overall look of our home. Then, we would find out how each one affected our budget."

"I work in the banking industry so I always kept a careful eye on the budget," Day, who is a Vice President and Cash Management Manager with Center Bank in Merrillville, said. "There were definitely times when we had to make some very difficult decisions, but Cory was always willing to work through every available option until we were satisfied."

From the day CK broke ground, the Days often brought their young boys to visit the job site and check on the progress of their future home.

"Our kids loved the process," Kooi-Day said. "When we were visiting, it wasn't uncommon for someone to drive by and stop to ask if it was our home. During the early stages they would ask who our builder was and express how much they appreciated how clean everything always was, later on, they would say, ‘it's so beautiful,' or ‘that's one of the nicest homes I've ever seen.'"

In fact, one of the couples who stopped by often recently contacted Kreith and is now in the process of having CK build a home for them in Feather Rock.

"Whatever your needs are, Cory will get the job done," Kooi-Day said. "He always goes the extra mile to ensure the quality of work is beyond expectations."

"To me, integrity is everything, and I'm willing to pay for quality. When you're working with someone and they say something, they better mean it and deliver. Cory delivered a beautiful home with the promised 5-Star Plus ENERGY STAR® rating to ensure our maximum comfort while keeping utility bills low," Day added.

Based in Crown Point, CK Building & Design has worked extensively in northwest Indiana and Chicago's southern suburbs. Kreith's unique background combines hands-on experience with exemplary credentials that include a degree from Butler University and the building industry's equivalent of a Ph.D. with the Graduate Master Builder (GMB) designation through the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB).
