FUNDRAISING BICYCLE RIDE | Griffith

Lake County Sheriff's Animal Adoption and Control Center will hold its 2nd annual Bicycle Ride at 11 a.m. today at Oak Ridge Prairie Park. Cost of the ride is $20, which includes a T-shirt, lunch and live entertainment. Proceeds from the ride will be used to spay and neuter animals at the shelter, as well as low-income assistance for local residents for spay/neutering. Participants may ride, walk or roller blade, and pets are welcome.

BLACK AND WHITE CELEBRATION | Westville

The Independent Cat Society will hold its Black and White Celebration from 4 to 8:30 p.m. June 15 at the shelter, located at County Line Road and U.S. 6. Bring seating and beverages; appetizers and cake will be served. Shelter staff will offer a tour of the Rainbow Bridge Garden, along with other special events. Gifts/donations will be accepted.

The Independent Cat Society will hold a drawing for a Black and White Celebration Basket. ADOPTION SPECIAL | Westville

The Independent Cat Society is promoting its black and white cats and kittens during June by offering an adoption special on them for $35 or two for $55. Adoptions include vaccines, flea treatment, spay or neuter, nail trim and a free initial vet visit with a participating vet. There is no adoption fee for cats older than 5.

The Michigan City Animal Control Division has announced a volunteer program that will encompass kennel duties located at Michigan City’s Central Maintenance on the west side. Duties will include feeding cats and dogs and cleaning the kennels. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER TRANSPORT | Gary

Dog and cat owners looking to get their pets fixed can take advantage of a transport program offered by the South Suburban Humane Society in Glenwood, Ill. The program transports pets to the clinic from Gary on the second Wednesday of the month. The clinic offers special rates for low-income families and those receiving disability, Social Security, unemployment or other public aid. Other vaccinations and procedures are available the day of surgery.
