American Greyhound will hold adoption events from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Petco in Merrillville and Homewood, Ill., and from noon to 3 p.m. (EST) at the Petco in Mishawaka.

FUNDRAISER | Michigan City

Humane Society Northwest Indiana will hold its Tails of Love fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at Maxine's Restaurant, 521 Franklin St. The event includes a silent auction from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and a live auction at 6 p.m. The restaurant has donated its French Bistro and cuisine for the event. Tickets are $30 a piece or $50 for two. Call by Feb. 19 to reserve. Tickets will be sold at the door, but reservations are preferred.

SPAY/NEUTER | Munster

On Feb. 26, all Hammond residents qualify to have their pets spayed or neutered at the Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic for a low cost of $50 for dogs and $30 for cats. This special is to celebrate World Spay Day and space is limited.

PIZZA PARTY | LaPorte

The Independent Cat Society will hold its annual ICS Pussycat Pizza Party from 6 to 9 p.m. March 11 at Aurelio's, 2330 N. Hwy. 35. Tickets are $12 at the door and include all-you-can-eat pizza and pop. At 8 p.m., the organization will hold a dessert raffle. All proceeds go toward to the ICS.

ADOPTION SPECIAL | Westville

The Independent Cat Society is holding three adoption specials during February. The shelter is offering one cat for $75 and get a companion free. The shelter also has a special of adopt a cat 5 and older and the shelter will waive the adoption fee. To help celebrate Valentine’s Day, the shelter also is offering a special where someone may adopt one of the shelter’s “pairs” on the ICS Pairs list and will get both cats for $50.

COST SPAY/NEUTER | Munster

Recipients of public aid (Food Stamps, Medicaid, Unemployment or Disability) can have their pet spayed or neutered at the Estelle Marcus Animal Clinic for a low cost: $50 for dogs, $30 for cats. Feral cats and pit bulls can also be fixed at these prices, regardless of owner income.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM | Michigan City

The Michigan City Animal Control Division has announced a volunteer program that will encompass kennel duties located at Michigan City’s Central Maintenance on the west side. Duties will include feeding cats and dogs and cleaning the kennels. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER TRANSPORT | Gary

Dog and cat owners looking to get their pets fixed can take advantage of a transport program offered by the South Suburban Humane Society in Glenwood, Ill. The program transports pets to the clinic from Gary on the second Wednesday of the month. The clinic offers special rates for low-income families and those receiving disability, Social Security, unemployment or other public aid. Other vaccinations and procedures are available the day of surgery.
