Humane Society Northwest Indiana will host its Christmas Open House and Picture Your Pet with Santa event from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the shelter, 6100 Melton Road. The event also will include food, drinks and tours of the shelter. Put your personal Christmas ornament on the shelter's "Tree of Hope." All proceeds from the tree will go toward "Hope's Fund," which cares for the severely abused and neglected animals that come into the shelter.

ADOPTION PROMOTION | Westville
The Independent Cat Society is promoting its tortie cats through the rest of November. The cost to adopt these cats are $35, which includes spay or neuter, current vaccines, nail trim, flea treatment and a free initial vet visit with one of the shelter's participating vets within two weeks of the adoption.
