There’s lots going on in Fort Wayne over the Thanksgiving weekend. Starting Nov. 22, the downtown is hosting the start of its annual HolidayFest’s Night of Lights. The first night begins with a countdown to the illumination of Santa and His Reindeer, the Merry Christmas Wreath, the Northern Lights, among other light displays.
Also, that evening is the Festival of the Trees, a brilliant display of more than 50 decorated trees and the Festival of Gingerbread — a display of some 100 gingerbread creations created by a wide range of artists from schoolchildren to prominent pastry chefs. More activities include visits to Santa at his workshop, downtown churches ringing their bells and fireworks.
On Nov. 25, which is National Shop Small Saturday, board the Holly Trolley, a free ride that takes passengers to several city shopping areas including downtown Fort Wayne, West Main Shops and the Wells Street Corridor as well as stops at unique shopping venues along the way. The trolley also travels to the Old Fort, which is hosting Joyeux Noel — A Festive French Christmas.
