The Lansing Junior Woman’s Club, of which I am a member, will be hosting their second annual Ladies’ Afternoon Delight fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Lansing Knights of Columbus, 17800 Lorenz Ave. The event is a chance for ladies to shop, snack and be pampered.

The event helps raise funds for community service projects, including the Veterans Appreciation Dinner, contributions to local families and children in need and support to charitable organizations.

Admission to the event is $5 per person, which includes hors d'oeuvres. The event will include several vendors and services, including Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Mary Kay, Tastefully Simple and massage therapy. It is a ladies-only event, so no children are admitted.

Vendors who are interested in having a booth at the event can apply by email to lbp0813@att.net.

Crop/Stamp Out Cancer event planned

On Feb. 9, a scrap booking and stamping event will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Holland to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. You can attend the scrap booking portion for either a full-day session from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. or for a half-day session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from 4 to 9 p.m. or the stamping sessions in one of three time slots.

For those who like to scrapbook and need a dedicated block of time to be creative, this is a great opportunity where you’ll have supplies, lunch, dinner and prizes. Cost for the scrap booking event is $35 for a full day or $20 for a half day until Feb. 2. After that, the cost is $40 for the full day and $25 for the half day. There will also be a snack table and participants are invited to bring a snack to share for the community table.

If you aren’t into scrap booking, there’s also a Stampin’ Up card buffet. Choose from a combination of cards and select 15 to make from original designs for $25. Pick a time — either 9 a.m. to noon, 1 to 4 p.m. or 5 to 8 p.m.

The event is in support of cancer survivors Sally Lourwood and Shirley Krenkel for their team’s participation in the Relay for Life. It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t been touched by cancer in some way. Even if you aren’t able to attend the event, feel free to contact the duo to make a donation.

Sally and I had some college classes together many moons ago and live in the same neighborhood. She’s quite an inspiring person. Although I don’t know Shirley, I had the joy of working with her late husband, John, also many moons ago at Thornton High School and he was one of the kindest people I’ve even known. My best wishes to them both. For more information or to register, call (708) 525-2709 or email uniquelyyours@sbcglobal.net.
