When you have a little one, it can be hard to stay up to date on the lives of friends, family and celebrities. It’s great to connect with a letter, social event or online to find out the latest news.
My friends at the Lansing Golden-K Kiwanis Club recently sent me a letter regarding their current fundraising efforts.
Chris Coley, the treasurer of Lansing Golden-Ks, presented a $1,000 check to Bill Meuzelaar, co-chairman of the Lansing Food Pantry. The food pantry is having a villagewide fundraiser in an effort to replace its 13-year-old truck. Ridgeway Chevrolet is also assisting with this project.
If you wish to contribute, you can send a check, made out to Lansing Food Pantry Van, to 2990 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL 60438.
Congratulations to my friend Joanne Rosseau who got married July 20 in Chicago. I had a great time attending her wedding, watching guests bust out their best dance moves and mingling with other new moms and dads and with Joanne’s family.
Joanne is a Hegewisch native and Bishop Noll alum and works as an emergency room doctor on the South Side. Her parents still live here in Hegewisch so if you see them around town, tell them congrats. The wedding featured some special Chicago touches including Chicago postcards as place cards and Frango Mint favors.
Hegewisch doctors of the future will enjoy a program about the systems of the body taking place this week at our library.
The Hegewisch branch of the Chicago Public Library will host Globs, Good and Guts! at 11 a.m. July 26. Ages 8 and up can attend and roll up their sleeves to make icky sticky goo and have a hands-on look at real cow guts. The library is at 3048 E. 130th St. Register in advance.
