GRIFFITH — The School Board on Thursday approved the preferred number of students for each grade level.
The board said the optimum number of kids for kindergarten and first grade is between 18-20; second grade is 20-23 while grades three through six are 20-25.
Middle school math and English language arts should be 20-23 while high school algebra is 18-22. Business courses should have no more than 30 students and high/middle school reading 180 classes are limited to 24.
The board also said any high or middle school class with 15 or less students will be cancelled because it is not economically feasible.
"I'm a proactive administrator," acting Superintendent Michele Riise said. "We like to plan."
She added that the planning will start in January.
