The South Suburban Humane Society Spay/Neuter Clinic celebrated its grand opening with an open house Thursday. The event showcased the new facility to the public and the organization's donors. Staff conducted tours of the clinic for community members, volunteers, donors and other humane society staff members. Emily Gruszka, executive
director, thanked the many supporters of the South Suburban Humane Society, as well as thanking the organization's staff
members for all their work. Clinic director Sandi Petee told attendees the clinic had already performed more than 350 spay/neuter surgeries in the first month of business. She also thanked Sam's Club of Lansing, Walt's Food Stores of Homewood, Strack & Van Til's of Munster and The Flower Depot of Chicago Heights for donations. The clinic aims to help reduce the pet overpopulation problem in the South Suburbs and Northwest Indiana.
