GARY | Police are following up on leads in the shooting death of a 26-year-old Gary man.
Gary police Detective Mark Davis, who is heading up the investigation, said Sunday that Ronald R. Grayson, Jr., of 4100 block of Jackson Street, was shot to death shortly before 9 on Saturday night. The shooting occurred outside the Clark service station at 4500 Broadway.
The Lake County coroner's office reportedly pronounced Grayson dead at 9:30 p.m. The coroner's office said Grayson had multiple gunshot wounds to his body as he stood by the station's gas pumps.
Meanwhile, Davis said it appears there was an argument between the victim and the suspect, reportedly because they bumped into each other.
"Words were exchanged and the one with the gun hit the other guy, then he shot him," Davis said, adding the victim was not armed.
No one is in custody at this time. Anyone who has additional information about the incident should contact Davis at (219) 881-1210.
