Wanatah and LaCrosse
The Wanatah Historical Society annual dinner is planned for Nov. 16 at the REMC building. Doors will be open at noon. Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be bought from any society member or by sending a check to Wanatah Historical Society, P.O. Box 156, Wanatah IN 46390.
The program will be historical Wanatah businesses over the years. For information, call Norman or Sharon Grieger at (219) 733-282 or Rosalie Mack at (219) 733-2278. Deadline for reservations is Nov. 12.
Flu shots
Flu shots and pneumonia shots are being given today from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wanatah Town Hall.
On Thursday flu shots will be given 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Koselke-Mayfield American Legion Post.
South Central school news
Donna Jordan was approved as the director of the fall play, the spring musical and drama class sponsor when the South Central School Board met.
Nancy Smith has resigned as kitchen supervisor. Lisa Strong has been appointed as her replacement.
The board decided to donated metal bleachers to the Clinton-Hanna-Noble Little League.
Treasurer Karen Schroch reviewed the 2009 budget, which has been advertised. The board approved acceptance of $306.67 in donations. The board approved new and revised policy guidelines as formulated by Neola.
Coaches for fall sports include junior varsity girls basketball coach Greg Wright; seventh-grade JV boys basketball coach Nathan Mrzonski; eighth-grade boys basketball coach Bob Braden and assistant boys basketball John Rosebaum.
Board meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month during winter hours.
Bazaar planned
LaCrosse United Methodist Church will have a bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 25 in the church social rooms. Homemade goodies include noodles, cookies, and for lunch, soup and sandwiches. Many craft items will be available and there'll be a white elephant room.
Applefest set
St. John Lutheran church in LaCrosse will sponsor its annual Applefest form 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Homemade soup, sandwiches, dessert and beverage will be available. Come join friends and neighbors for food and fellowship.
Halloween events
Wanatah's seventh grade is sponsoring a haunted house from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Lions Park.
The Wanatah Lions Club will not sponsor a Halloween party this year.
Trick or treat will be 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 in Wanatah.
