Cops: Business' doors are being left unlocked
Chesterton police responded to an alarm at Cigarette Discount Outlet on Indian Boundary Road at 2:10 p.m. Thursday and, along with a responding employee, discovered the front door was unlocked and the front door motion sensor set off the alarm.
The employee told police the previous night's clerk apparently forgot to lock the door. The employee locked the door.
But at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, police and the employee responded to another alarm and discovered the front door was unlocked. Police said someone may be randomly unlocking the door to create a problem for the business.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the business. The district manager stated the locks at the business would be changed.
