An 18-year-old Griffith man was killed in a car accident there Sunday night.

Kyle R. Gordon of the 600 block of N. Oakwood Street was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m. at the scene of the crash in the 900 block of W. Glen Park Avenue, a spokeswoman for the Lake County coroner's office said. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Griffith police were not immediately available for comment early Monday morning.

Witnesses at the scene of the crash Sunday night said one woman was taken to an area hospital as a result of the crash as well.

When police and fire crews arrived on the scene around 8:15 p.m, a gray Pontiac car was wrapped around a small tree, facing eastbound near the Fountainhead Apartments on Glen Park Avenue.
