GARY | Officers from the Lake County Sheriff's Drug Interdiction Unit stopped a Ford Mustang on Friday on the Indiana Toll Road and found drugs during a search of the car, a sheriff's spokesman said.

The driver of the rented Mustang, Timothy Carr, 33, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of drug possession, spokesman Mike Higgins said.

Officer Michael Stewart stopped the car for speeding and passing Stewart on the right on Interstate 90 in Gary, Higgins reported.

Carr gave Stewart permission to search the car, police said. Stewart found a small amount of marijuana in the center console and then, in the trunk, found plastic bags full of cocaine with a total street value of more than $58,000, Higgins reported.
