MUNSTER

Water bills recalculated, adjustments scheduled

The Munster clerk-treasurer's office announced Friday that the recently reported miscalculations of water utility bills have been resolved by the computer software provider and corrections have been made.

Customers who already paid or will pay the incorrect amount on the water bill will receive an adjustment on the next bill, scheduled to be delivered on or about Oct. 1.

Customers who arranged for the automatic payment of their water bill through the ACH program will have the correct amount pulled Sept. 22. Those customers should contact their bank, either online or in person, to verify the correct amount to enter in their check register. The clerk-treasurer's office apologizes for the error.

Additionally, the Munster Water Department continues to investigate several customers' inquiries of excessively high water use. Some of the high use may be attributed to lawn sprinkling during hot weather.
