The Be Thankful Club of the Portage Bonner Senior Center is selling cookbooks containing 300 recipes collected from members. ORIGAMI DROP-IN | Valparaiso
The Youth Services Department at the Valparaiso Public Library, 103 Jefferson St., will offer techniques on learning origami between 10 a.m. and noon or 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 30. Participants will fold modular units to create a variety of 3-dimensional geometric shapes. The program is free and open to all ages.

FUN AND FUNKY PAPER ART DOLLS AND DUDES | Valparaiso
Come create funky paper art dolls and dudes using recycled materials at the Valparaiso Public Library, 103 Jefferson St.. The class, for children in grades kindergarten and up, will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 16. SOCIAL ANXIETY GROUP | Valparaiso
Porter County Family Counseling Center will begin offering a Social Anxiety Group beginning Jan. 13. The Social Anxiety Group will meet on Tuesdays, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Fees for the group will be based on income. Social Anxiety group sessions will run for six consecutive weeks at the Porter County Family Counseling Center located at 554 S. Locust St. The cost per session is based on income using a sliding fee scale.

Registration is now open for Youth Indoor Soccer for children ages 3 - 7 years. Soccer will be held from Jan. 5 through Feb. 14 and will require shin guards. The cost is $25 for Primary Plus YM members, $33 for Primary members and $66 for others. Registration is now open for the Adult (18+) Basketball League which will start on Jan. 11 and run through March 8. Games will be played on Thursday nights between 6 and 10 p.m. The cost is $450 per team.

A Winter Wonderland Mini-Camp for kids ages 4 to 8 will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 29 and 30 at Horizon Gymnastics Center. Each day features a gymnastics lesson and a variety of age-appropriate crafts, games and activities that go along with the theme. Cost for the mini-camp is $35 plus bring a sack lunch each day. FISH FRY | Westville
Westville United Methodist Church hosts Chef Charley and Crew's fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. every Friday. The menu will consist of Alaskan Pollock (baked or fried), French fries or baked potato, coleslaw, roll with butter, a drink (coffee, punch or water). Shrimp, chicken strips, and hot dogs will also be available. The United Methodist Youth will be selling soda for $.50 to fund their mission projects. The United Methodist Women will have a variety of desserts for $1 each. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4.50 for children ages 3-10, and free for children under 3.

The Valparaiso Department of Parks and Recreation is now taking registrations for our December Holiday Sampler classes for preschoolers. Each class presents a new topic surrounding the holidays, and snacks, crafts and cooking are featured in these great winter escapes. Classes vary in length from 2 to 3 hours. Hobart Family YMCA is offering a winter soccer league for boys and girls in age groups 3-4 and 5-7. All games will be played indoors at the YMCA, 601 W. 40th Place.
