E.C. man indicted on bank robbery charges

CHICAGO | A federal grand jury in Chicago indicted an East Chicago man on Thursday in connection with four suburban bank robberies earlier this year.

FBI agents arrested Randy Williams, 33, of 6545 Hermitage Ave., on Oct. 22 at Resorts East Chicago Hotel and Casino in connection with the crimes, the FBI said.

The indictment accuses Williams of robbing First Midwest Bank, 12015 S. Western Ave. in Blue Island, of $5,400 on June 11. On Aug. 17, he is accused of robbing First Midwest Bank, 6001 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, of $6,689.

The indictment accuses Williams of robbing Harris Bank, 4940 W. 211th St. in Matteson, of $5,010 on Sept. 7 and LaSalle Bank, 1921 St. John's Ave. in Highland Park, of $1,000 on Oct. 5.

If convicted of the charges, Williams could face up to 20 years in prison.
