PORTAGE | A 6-year-old boy was rescued from the waters of Lake Michigan at West Beach in Portage, authorities said.

The boy, who was rescued shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, was reported to be conscious and breathing.

A Portage ambulance was called to the scene as a precaution.
