Mr. and Mrs. Claus take flight today

Children can welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus when they arrive by helicopter at 10 a.m. today at the T.F. South Football Field. After greeting all the children, they will travel by fire engine for the official opening of the Santa House.

The Santa House will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 20.

Police recover stolen car

Calumet City police recovered a stolen car in the first block of State Street at 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving a call about an abandoned vehicle, according to police records.

The 1993 Buick Century sedan was reported stolen on Nov. 18 in East Chicago, records state. The driver's window was smashed and the steering column was peeled, police records show.
