Victim had refused to give money to suspect
CALUMET CITY | Police are searching for a man who allegedly shot someone during a robbery attempt Friday morning at a Currency Exchange, 1651 Sibley Blvd.
Police say the gunman, whom they describe as being about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, black and wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, walked up to a man shortly after 10:30 a.m.
The gunman reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired it when the victim refused to give up money.
Police Capt. Dan Zorzi said the gunman then fled, without getting anything.
Officials at the Currency Exchange on Friday afternoon declined to comment about the incident.
The man who was shot once in the stomach was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. His condition is unknown.
Police declined Saturday afternoon to identify the victim.
