You should be able to find everything you are looking for and at a reasonable price from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Veterans Park or at homes in Steger. The village wide garage sale will have more than 25 booths set up in the park and at least twice that many around town.

* Looking for that special hanging basket? Heather at Witvoet-Dixon Farms has it. Looking for fresh-baked breads and pastries? Look no further than Kathy at Foodie's Marketplace. You can find all these great places in one stop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Crete Euro Mart on the corners of Main and Exchange streets with plenty of parking.

* Are you looking for a place to show off your classic car? From 6 to 10 p.m. every Wednesday until Oct. 29 McDaniel Speed & Performance at 1016 Steger Road in Crete is a good place to start. Subway, Dairy Queen, Sicilian Joe's Pizza and Northwoods Restaurant & Saloon will be open for your dining pleasure. For more information, call Paul (708) 672-6500.

* My friend Maria Servia is a first lieutenant in the Thunder Squadron Civil Air Patrol, which has a drill from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Crete F-Men building, Exchange and Kings roads. They have black box locating drills and mini missions so in case of an emergency, locating a real black box will run smoothly. The public is invited to watch.

* Love car shows? Looking for a great chance to show off that classic car? The Custom Car and Bike Showroom is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 14202 S. Cottage Grove Ave. in Dolton. This show is hosted by Club D'Elegance and Illinois State Kustom. And, guess who is going to be a judge? No, not Batman. Me. There will be trophies for New School Custom, Old School Originals, Custom Old School, Sport Bikes, Choppers and Cruisers. For more information, call (773) 297-4786.

* Celebrate the golden age of the airplane and the automobile while enjoying a hearty breakfast and then stroll through rows of homebuilt, antique and historical military aircraft. The event starts at 7 a.m. June 8 at Lansing Municipal Airport.
