PORTAGE | The Portage Plan Commission will hold two public hearings on rezoning requests during its meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at City Hall, 6070 Central Ave.
Developer Louis Gagliardi, of Ogden Dunes, has petitioned to rezone 7.47 acres of property at the southwest corner of Samuelson Road and U.S. 6 from residential to medium to large-scale general commercial. Gagliardi told the Development Review Committee last month that he has no definitive plans for the site, but hopes to develop the property himself for commercial use.
Nativity of Our Savior Church is petitioning for rezoning of a parcel of land at the southeast corner of Willowcreek Road and Sunrise Avenue with the intent of using the home on the property as its food pantry. The rezoning request is from low density residential to institutional.
Development Review Committee members last month expressed concerns about traffic and parking issues involved in converting the home into a food pantry.
